Consistent and flavorful middle eastern dishes. Casual atmosphere, inexpensive menu, and friendly service. Lunch special can’t be beat – falafel and shawarma and drink for $7.99.

Recommend the falafel (eat in so it’s fresh), stuffed grape leaves, and middle eastern style pizzas.

Serving al vapor tacos right from steam table. Gotta try em. I got one each – papas (potato), beef, and pollo (chicken). I tempered the hot (temperature wise) meal with the bottled house salsa.

Chez Marcel Bistro in Prague

by · Comments (0)

Chez Marcel is a small bistro in Prague with moderate prices. The menu features all the expected fare – for my dinner I had the Duck Confit with truffle mash potatoes. And though my intention was to have a simple meal, I couldn’t resist also trying the Foie Gras Poêlè (house made) so my light meal turned into… well, a not so light one. A glass of Rosè rounded out my first meal in Prague.

Notable features: credit cards accepted, pleasant service, and a no smoking section in the upper deck of the restaurant.

Mike and Patty’s was recommend to me awhile back, and my mouth was watering since. Adding frustration to the last trip by first showing up on a Monday, one of the two days a week they are closed.

This trip I made up for it by going twice in four days. They are best known for their Egg and Bacon Fancy which is simply a really good breakfast sandwich. I substituted the standard cheese cheese for Gruyere. Couldn’t be any better.

The second trip I ordered the Breafsst Torta with chorizo. I enjoyed it even more.

Located in a neighborhood on Church Street, near Boylston. With limited seating inside, I recommend to order and take away to eat in one of the two neighborhood parks.

They are open for breakfast and lunch everyday except for Monday and Tuesday.

I don’t understand why people rant about the Carnegie. Sure they don’t make everything perfect, but what shines are the meats and sandwiches. If you skip the Latkas (potato pancakes) and head right to the pastrami or brisket with a obligatory Dr Browns Black Cherry and you’ll be a happy camper.

PS: If you like blintzes, ask for them well done and you’ll be a happy diner.

Desert first. Life can be short.

This place is overwhelming, especially for a foodie. On my first visit, I headed straight for one of the several sit down restaurants housed in the venue. Which, as it turned out, was a perfect introduction to this food shrine.

Enjoyed a good late night meal at the (institution) Ebbitts Grill near the White House. They have one of the best bars in the city, and all the wait staff are professionals. On our recent evening, our server Tiffany, made a two star dinner into a three star by being personable, attentive and knowledgeable.

Go for the specials when ordering as they seem to strike a passion with the chef and can be extraordinary. The asparagus soup with house made croutons was a taste explosion, as was the Oyster Stew. The crab cakes, tortollinii, chili and peanut butter pie bistro de coin were good but not great.

Unless you are a fan of Cincinnati style chili, skip Clydes Chili.

Renzo’s – a taste of Peru

by · Comments (0)

Renzo’s offers it’s take on Peruvian food to fit the local business crowds. Not always authentic, but always tasty. As an example, the beef Saltado had the subtle flavors but was served in a wrap. Ceviche, soups, and pork dishes are the things to order.

Open every day except Sunday. Check website for hours
