For lunch they serve all the expected deli choices. I enjoyed the turkey with cranberry cream cheese and their matzo ball soup. The soup hit the spot, but wouldn’t qualify as grandmas best. The sandwich with wax bean salad was outstanding and large enough to split.

Above is a pic of a cup of their matzo ball soup.

Their website is way overdone and difficult to use but lists locations and has menus to view.

Cafe Hiro is one of the standout kitchens in Orange county where you can count on an inspired meal on every visit. Be sure to check the daily specials when ordering. Service is friendly and efficient. Open for lunch and dinner.

Try one of his infused pastas. This one above features mushroom pasta with eggplant and bonita flakes, but another must try is their signature dish, Sea Urchin “Uni” Spaghetti. The Chilean Sea Bass and Beef Tongue Stew are also excellent. At Cafe Hiro shy away from the ordinary and be adventurous with your selections. You will not be disappointed.

As usual, check the website for hours and other logistics.

Ma Bourgogne

by · Comments (0)

Seating is divided between a casual brasserie upstairs and a formal restaurant downstairs. The current owners have run the place for the last couple of years and luckily have kept many of the original recipes. including their method for Beef Bourgogne. The Aloxe Corton at 42 Euro complimented the bold beef dish and also recommended.

Chicken club was dry and tasteless. Entrecrote and frites were average as was the dessert crepes. Nice relaxing atmosphere and a comfortable patio.

Spanish restaurant. Good tapas, friendly service. If you want to taste a variety of tapas or the assortment entree. Ours included a variety of clam I have never had, called Couteaux de Mer (also called the Atlantic Razor Clams), which had the most amazing flavor.

The Estate of Versailles

by · Comments (0)

A recommedation for Versialles is to avoid the early morning lines and start with a walk around the grand palace – gratis. You can take a tram for 6 Euro, or rent bikes to aid in touring the grounds. We chose the later and really enjoyed the exercise and the ability to navigate around the water and landscape features. If you don’t have a ticket her is a tip, ride to Marie Antoinette’s estate, where you will find short ticket lines and can also begin with a brief tour her home. Their are several places on the grounds to grab a snack or lunch. For lunch we enjoyed the bistro.

Taco Adobe

by · Comments (0)

For the last few years, Taco Adobe has become one of my favorite Mexican eateries. Sure they serve the expected American-Mexican dishes but the true finds are Southwestern dishes found under House Specialties and on the daily specials board.

My favorites always include seafood – calamari tacos, grilled halibut, snapper vera cruz, shrimp tacos.

Pinas Bistro

by · Comments (0)

Tucked between a beauty salon and a Mail Boxes Etc., Pinas Bistro is a tiny, unassuming place. Order anything from their home style menu and you will be pleased.

There are a few things I believe in more then anything when it comes to food – one is that the most important thing about a sandwich is the bread. Pinas serves theirs on artesian style breads (made in house I presume), slightly toasted. My favorite sandwich here is the ퟙCapreseퟘ filled with lush tomatoes, basil and buffalo mozzarella. Another favorite is the meatball.

House made soups, crispy artichokes, stromboli, and of course many fresh pastas can also be found on the printed menu. Look to the specials board for other tasty choices.
