Mr. Stox

by · Comments (0)

One of the better restaurants in Anaheim. Mr. Stox has a great chef and a historical legacy that few other restaurant in Orange County can match. Here, attention to detail extends to things like growing and harvesting their own herbs, and making their own bread. Mr. Stox also hosts special dinners designed with the gourmand and the wine aficionado in mind. One of my favorite of these was a Frogs Leap Winery dinner, hosted by the winery’s founder, John Williams (not to be confused with the composer). Special events range from $ 50 to $ 85 per person (OK, the Opus One winemakers dinner was $ 150). Regular menu is ranges from $ 17 to $ 30 per entree.

Mr. Stox is more suited to the business lunch and client dinner then a romantic one. Check out their extensive wine list.

Le Dome

Le Dome was once one of my favorite places in LA for fine dining. In fact, their Walnut Torte was a mainstay of my diet. However over the years the tastes and decor have both faded. Today It is worthy of a drink or two along with some people watching but little else.

This Scandinavian restaurant is worthy. A wonderful kitchen serves American, Continental, and Swedish specialties that are sure to warm your soul. Order the Swedish meatballs with lingon berry sauce, steak tartar, roasted pork or lamb, and gravlax.

They have a wonderful Smorgasbord on Mother’s day, Fathers Day, and Easter Sundays. It is also served from the Tuesday after Thanksgiving through the end of the year.

Wood burning oven turns out fine rotisserie chicken, and gourmet pizza’s with a flair. They also serve the Swedish national drink, Aquavit which they say perfectly complements the herring (some may find it a necessity).

All of the breads are baked on premises. The decor is reminiscent of Swedish sensibilities, both contemporary and warm.
What To Order: Swedish meatballs, fish entrees, roasted chicken, gravlax lax with dill mustard,
